All children and young people experience day to day issues related to growing up. Children and young people who have visual impairments have additional difficulties to manage. Emotional needs may arise from low self-esteem, concerns about physical appearance, feelings of social inadequacy or lack of independence.

Our counselling service offers our children and young people the opportunity to explore the concerns that they have in a confidential setting.

Young people who have benefitted from regular sessions with our student counsellor explained that

“I found these sessions useful because they supported my work on accepting ‘who I am’ and my capabilities.” (aged 16)

"It cleared my mind ... and gave me an empty mind like I'd been meditating for 10 minutes at the end of the session" (aged 7)
