Welcome to Wandsworth Vision Support Service

Wandsworth Vision Support Service (WVSS) is based in the Lodge Family Centre within the grounds of Linden Lodge School. The Service works in close collaboration with the school and the Hearing Support Service to support all children and young people from birth to 25 years with visual impairment with and without additional needs in the borough of Wandsworth. We offer expertise in Multi-Sensory Impairment (deafblind) and we work together with the Hearing Support Service in order to provide this Service.

WVSS is an outreach service working with pre-school children in their homes as well as with children and young people in mainstream and special schools. Our support to children and young people in special schools is for those with a minor visual impairment.

We work closely with families as well as schools and other settings. Additionally we liaise with medical professionals. We ensure the children’s needs are met through inclusive and tailored teaching and learning approaches.

Our role is to support the development of children and young people with visual impairments and to ensure that they have good access to learning.

We work collaboratively with families, education and health professionals to achieve the best possible outcomes for all visually impaired children and young people.

The Service operates in line with the Quality Standards in Education Support for children and young people with visual impairment.

WVSS belongs to the family of providers that make up Wandsworth Sensory Support Services.
